Ekuuu democracy day my fellow Nigerians. How is the going going? What are your plans for the day? Yesterday was a hell of a roller coaster ride, left my house at 2pm for one of my dearest friend’s engagement, came back home at 7.30 only to go back out an hour later to celebrate a super woman’s birthday and got home at maybe 1am.
I am exhausted, thats an understatement. I don’t “got” it like i used to, and despite the loud music in spice bar, many of us were struggling to stay awake. The life of an adult. Anyway, my sole singular achievement for the week that i choose to celebrate is that i tied a gele for the first time on thursday 28 May 2015. You might be thinking its not a big deal – but i am an “alapa ike” (plastic hands) when it comes to certain things. Even my mom that’s a foreigner learnt how to tie gele way back, even though she seems to have selective amnesia these days since everywhere you look there is someone willing to tie your gele for even as little as N200.
Singing – feeling myself.
The bride “called” purple as her color of the day, so i looked in my “eru iyawo” from the traditional and found this awesome purple sego- my mother in law is a star, she knows the things i need without me knowing i need them. The buba was the same cord buba (i made it with iro, but opted for aso oke iro for the trad) i wore for my trad, and the same with the shoe and bag. And i opted for my usual light makeup and bold purple lipgloss.
I got sick from Thursday so I am taking some time off from the site. I also have a client deliverable i want to push out by monday morning at the latest, since it was delayed due to the no electricity situation. And it seems to be a heavy activity weekend, so please accept my time off in good faith. Please if there is any hot gist, feel free to holler at me via email. Till then, i will be chilling and laspirating till monday.
